Our team at Halo is constantly testing the boundaries of commercial furniture design with Tim Oulton leading the team as International Design Director. The team, based in the UK and Hong Kong, are influenced by their own rich industry experience, and draw inspiration from cultural diversity and regular global travel.
When it comes to creating the right balance of tradition and innovation in an iconic piece of furniture, every bolt, every stitch, every detail counts. Each product is handcrafted using only the best techniques and fabrications. This is a tribute to the company’s antique heritage. Knowledge of ageless craftsmanship and detail reverberated in every piece of furniture.
Halo spends hours fine-tuning each piece: leather is patiently subjected to intricate ageing techniques, with every product requiring seven stages of hand finishing by skilled craftsmen. Each product also represents a huge number of man hours which are necessary to achieve an aesthetic standard that ensures distinct individuality. Irregularities are protected rather than rejected and individuality is cherished rather than banished.
Patience, time and skill nurture each creation, leading to the perfection Halo strives to achieve.
Our furniture is both "beautiful" and "real", because of the natural materials we use and the skilled ways in which we use them.
We are perhaps best known for the inventive and stylish use of high quality leather. Our design team selects only the most outstanding antique and vintage pieces and infuses them with a modern, exciting new spirit. Classic design details are reinterpreted to create a contemporary product that translates the heritage of its inspiration. The traditional charm of a leather armchair, the ageless beauty of an elegant sofa – every halo piece reflects timeless, considered design as well as dedicated craftsmanship, as the Bensington three-seater sofa attests: each piece contains 1,700 studs all applied by hand.
Throughout the extensive and diverse collection of sofas, chairs and ottomans, skilled artistry and aesthetic flair is evident in all details, finishings and unique characteristics of each piece, allowing owners to live surrounded by distinctive and innovative design.
Our wooden cabinet collections are designed to reflect our traditional heritage. Beginning in the antique trade, we understand the beauty of wood and the craftsmanship to create beautiful and timeless dining and bedroom furniture. Time honoured craftsmanship and solid wood construction are used wherever possible.
Our antique oak furniture has been carefully crafted from solid oak – each plank selected for its unique character. It is then carefully distressed before being hand finished using techniques imported from Norfolk – the home of wood manufacturing in England for centuries.
Halo’s Classics trunk collection is a salute to the detailed construction of antique luggage and travel goods. We have captured the superb charm and enduring beauty of a period of romance and grace. Applied to furniture this detailing creates a unique and individual statement.
The decadence of the trunk ranges is an excellent example of combined skill and craftsmanship invested in the collection. Each piece has approximately 400 finishing pins, hand applied. The traditional sprung locks are of the finest quality. Every trunk typically requires 72 hours of labour to complete. Our attention to detail is a hallmark of luxury.
